چکیده

We have demonstrated Laser speckle imaging of a finger with an optical configuration based on scattered light detection. Laser light enters a light-guide from its edge and propagates inside. A finger in contact with the light-guide scatters the light and the leaking light is imaged by a camera placed nearby. The speckle image fluctuates with time because the light scattered by the blood flowing inside the finger generates interference patterns varying with time. When the level of the blood flow is decreased by occlusion, the temporal randomness of the speckle image subsides. DOI: 10.2529/PIERS061205111423

Simultaneous measurement of water flow velocity with fluorescent and speckle imaging technique

The average velocity of water flow has been simultaneously measured with fluorescent and speckle imaging methods. The measured velocities with two methods are in good agreement with each other and it confirms that the speckle imaging method can be used as a confident method to measure the velocity of water flow in a dry leaf. Also the velocity of water flow through thick and thin xylems of a le...

Laser speckle imaging in the spatial frequency domain

Laser Speckle Imaging (LSI) images interference patterns produced by coherent addition of scattered laser light to map subsurface tissue perfusion. However, the effect of longer path length photons is typically unknown and poses a limitation towards absolute quantification. In this work, LSI is integrated with spatial frequency domain imaging (SFDI) to suppress multiple scattering and absorptio...

Simple correction factor for laser speckle imaging of flow dynamics.

One of the major constraints facing laser speckle imaging for blood-flow measurement is reliable measurement of the correlation time (τ(C)) of the back-scattered light and, hence, the blood's speed in blood vessels. In this Letter, we present a new model expression for integrated speckle contrast, which accounts not only for temporal integration but spatial integration, too, due to the finite s...

Quantitative modeling of laser speckle imaging.

We have analyzed the image formation and dynamic properties in laser speckle imaging (LSI) both experimentally and with Monte Carlo simulation. We show for the case of a liquid inclusion that the spatial resolution and the signal itself are both significantly affected by scattering from the turbid environment. Multiple scattering leads to blurring of the dynamic inhomogeneity as detected by LSI...

Rapid multiexposure in vivo brain imaging system using vertical cavity surface emitting lasers as a light source.

We demonstrate an imaging technique implementing vertical cavity lasers with extremely low transient times for a greatly simplified realization of a multiexposure laser speckle contrast imaging system. Data from multiexposure laser speckle imaging was observed to more closely agree with absolute velocity measurements using time of flight technique, when compared to long-exposure laser speckle i...
